This chamber opera, with libretto by the composer, draws on Ukrainian folklore to explore the relationship between three young women who find themselves involved with one man. This discovery and the angry retribution it precipitates takes place during the old pagan holiday, the eve of Ivan Kupalo. Their story is told by an older woman overseeing a spinning circle.
