Through closed doors

Score (Dropbox link)

This violin duo is notated on a restored antique door using my own notation system which incorporates dynamics, accents and bow pressure into the staff lines to create more intuitive gestures which resemble wood lines.

Invented folksongs: What else can I give him?

Score (PDF)

This song for my voice, cimbalom, percussion, violin and bass is part of my still in-progress Invented Folksongs cycle. The poetry and musical gestures draw heavily on Ukrainian folk music stretching it beyond its traditional boundaries.

Wild Dogs

Score (PDF)

Wild Dogs is an in-progress chamber opera with a libretto by Val Brandt based on Helen Humphrey’s novel Wild Dogs. These three scenes were performed by Standing Wave and Carla Huhtanen at the Orpheum Annex. In these scenes, a young woman, who suffered brain damage as a child while rescuing her baby brother from a burning house, ventures into the forest to find her lost dog, Dog, who has joined a feral pack. The pack finds her and adopts her.

Spirit of the Pack

This video documents an experiment to create a pack of wolves and feral dogs by layering my unprocessed voice. I created it while researching material for my in-progress chamber opera Wild Dogs.

Mirror, mirror

This is an illustrated score for my mini-opera Mirror, mirror created through linoleum printing and hand-worked tissue paper, yarn and water colour elements. The piece is scored for solo vocalist, who performs multiple roles, and electronics run through MaxMSP. I composed the music in 2012 and created the illustrated score in 2015.
